DOOR &
WINDOW PLAN COMMANDS
Tired of the tedium of inserting doors and windows? Locate the opening,
break/trim the walls, draw jambs, insert (or worse DRAW) the door or window
and then repeat. Over and over.
This system makes it so much easier. For a door: select a base point,
draw a line crossing the wall, and select the handing. Done. Windows are
just as easy: base point, cross the wall, point to the exterior side of the
wall. Quick, easy, and located perfectly.
Our door and window commands break walls (lines, plines, and/or mlines)
to insert a door or window or if needed we also have commands to insert
doors and windows in existing openings.
Door and window commands can be customized to change the following:
- Appearance
- Draw Jambs? Thickness & max width for jambs.
- Draw door stops on jambs? (doors only)
- Number of glass lines & distance between (commercial windows only)
- Align windows flush with outside of wall or centered in wall? (windows
only)
- Require minimum framing distance on each side of opening? If so, distance
required.
- Draw headers?
- Draw sills/thresholds?
- Draw demolition Lines in walls being broken? You may select the layers that are treated as "existing walls"
For more on customization see the
Door Commands and
Window Commands sections of the
APS-CONFIG command.
Then once the doors and windows have been placed in your plan if something
needs changed use the TXTEDT
command (included) to modify the type, size, & handing. (TXTEDT
also edits text among other things)
Commands
Included:
Inserting Doors and Windows:

Doors are inserted with several options for handing and swing type when
applicable. In the image to the left the options for a single swing door are
shown. All 4 handing directions plus options for 45°,
90°, 180°,
and pocket doors are also included in the choices. You simply select the one you
would like to use.

We have limited the door and window insertion methods to two:
centered and offset. However these two methods are capable of locating your
doors and windows in nearly all the conditions you may encounter; greatly
simplifying and speeding the process of inserting doors and windows.

Base points for locating your doors and windows are very flexible and do not need to
be located on the wall that will receive the new door or window, they can be any point in the drawing and will be projected
perpendicular to the wall where the door or window is being inserted. This
flexibility allows you to stop drawing "temporary" lines to locate doors or
windows; greatly speeding things up without sacrificing accuracy.
For more information on inserting doors and windows please see the
documentation for each of the individual commands by clicking on the command
names above.
