APS DOORS AND WINDOWS:
Inserting Doors and Windows in
plan
|
We have many different types of doors
and windows. Walls can be cut or doors and windows can be inserted in existing
openings. The door and window commands can break walls made up of any combination and/or number of
lines, plines, and/or mlines. All doors and windows are fully customizable and if you
don't like the way they look you can easily change them. The doors and windows can be configured to draw headers, sills and/or jambs and if
they are inserted in an "existing" wall can even be configured to automatically
draw the wall area removed on your layer for demolition.

Doors are inserted with several options for handing and swing type where
applicable. In the image shown here, the options for a single swing door are
shown. You simply select the handing and swing type you want. Pocket doors are also included in the choices.

We have limited the door and window insertion methods to two: centered and
offset. However these two methods are capable of locating your doors and windows
in nearly all the conditions you may encounter; greatly simplifying and speeding
the process of inserting doors and windows.

Centered
Offset
Base points for locating your doors and windows are very flexible and do not
need to be located on the wall that will receive the new door or window, they
can be any point in the drawing and will be projected perpendicular to the wall
where the door or window is being inserted. This flexibility allows you to stop
drawing "temporary" lines to locate doors or windows; greatly speeding things up
without sacrificing accuracy.

Once inserted, doors and windows can be edited and the type, size, & handing
(where applicable) changed, see the
TXTEDT command.
Inserting Doors and Windows
in Elevation
Our system for creating door and window elevations can create them in either
of two ways:
1.
Manually

(dialog image reduced in size)
Select your door or window type from the dialog shown at left.

Select or enter a size for the type of door or window selected (sample dialog
shown at left is for a single door)
And then insert the block...
or...
2.
Automatically

You may select one of the door or window blocks from your floor plan, select
the finish floor line and...

The window shows up in the correct location in your elevation. Select the
next door or window and its elevation appears.

Continue selecting doors and windows in your plan until you have finished
your elevation.
Doors and windows that have several style possibilities will bring up a
dialog to allow you to select the style you want.

This is the dialog that you would see when you select a single door like the
one selected above right.
Need grids in your doors and/or windows?
The WGRID command adds or
deletes window grids in both door and window elevation blocks.

If a window does not have a grid showing, the above dialog will appear and
you may choose from one of three window grid styles. If the window already has a
grid, it will be removed.
Editing Doors &
Windows
The TXTEDT
command edits doors and windows in plan as well as the following types of
entities:
Dialog for editing door blocks shown below. This dialog shows
what you would see if you selected two or more doors of different types that
have different widths. Selecting a door type other than "Multiple types" would
change all the doors to a single type. Overriding the "*Varies*" values in the
width would change all the doors to the same width. Since all the doors selected
have a height of 6'8", that value is displayed. Change 6'8" to another value and
all the heights will change to that value.
