Possible solution:

When all of the possible door blocks are inserted on top of each other there are areas where they overlap and if the door you wish to remain is selected in one of these overlapping areas it is possible to select the wrong door. To avoid doing this select the door in an area where they do not overlap. Generally speaking, if you select the door itself and not the swing you will avoid the possibility of getting the wrong door (with the pocket doors it is generally best to select the portion of the door inside the wall).

In the image above the areas that are shown green are good areas to select the doors. Areas shown in red are where the doors overlap and if selected there present a good chance of getting the wrong door.

Double doors have similar overlap areas and the same general rules apply.

I tried this and it still doesn't work.
