Breakdown of configuration options

Dimension Line Color and Lineweight

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Select the color and lineweight for the dimension line (shown yellow in the image). How to select colors. If you are using release 14 or earlier, the lineweight value will be grayed out. For more on how these settings affect dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMCLRD System Variable" and "DIMLWD System Variable".

Distance to Extend Dimension Line Beyond Ticks

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Enter the distance you would like the dimension line to extend beyond the extension lines. This distance value assumes that you are in a full size drawing (scale factor = 1.0).  For more on how this setting affects dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMDLE System Variable".

Baseline Spacing

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Enter the distance you would like the next baseline dimension to be offset from the first. This distance value assumes that you are in a full size drawing (scale factor = 1.0). For more on how this setting affects dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMDLI System Variable".

Dimension Line Suppression

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

If you would like to suppress either the first or second dimension line check the appropriate box. For more on how these settings affect dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMSD1 System Variable" and "DIMSD2 System Variable".

Extension Line Color and Lineweight

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Select the color and lineweight for the extension lines (shown yellow in the image). How to select colors. If you are using release 14 or earlier, the lineweight value will be grayed out. For more on how these settings affect dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMCLRE System Variable" and "DIMLWE System Variable".

Distance to Extend Extension Lines Beyond Ticks

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Enter the distance you would like the extension lines to extend beyond the dimension line. This distance value assumes that you are in a full size drawing (scale factor = 1.0).  For more on how this setting affects dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMEXE System Variable".

Extension Line Offset From Origin Point

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Enter the distance away from the dimension origin points you would like the extension lines to start. This distance value assumes that you are in a full size drawing (scale factor = 1.0).  For more on how this setting affects dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMEXO System Variable".

Extension Line Suppression

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

If you would like to suppress either the first or second extension line check the appropriate box. For more on how these settings affect dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMSD1 System Variable" and "DIMSD2 System Variable".

Dimension Arrow / Block or First Arrow / Block

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Select an arrow, tick, or block for the first dimension extension line. Select the style from the drop-down box. If you choose "User Defined" the box and button below become active. "Browse" for the block that you would like to use for the dimension block.  For more on how this setting affects dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMBLK System Variable" or the "DIMBLK1 System Variable".

Second Arrow / Block

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Select an arrow, tick, or block for the second dimension extension line. This value will usually be the same as the one above. But if for some reason you would like the second arrow/tick/block to be different than the first select the style from the drop-down box. If you choose "User Defined" the box and button below become active. "Browse" for the block that you would like to use for the dimension block. For more on how this setting affects dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMSAH System Variable" and/or the "DIMBLK2 System Variable"..

Note: If the value for this "2nd" arrow/block is the same as the "1st" DIMSAH is turned "OFF" and the DIMBLK dimension variable will be set to the "1st" value. If the "2nd" value differs from the "1st" then DIMSAH is turned "ON" and DIMBLK1 will be set to the "1st" value and DIMBLK2 will be set to the "2nd" value.

Leader Arrow

Commands affected:  DIMSET

Select an arrow, tick, or block for the AutoCAD leader commands (not to be confused with the Software leader commands). Select the style from the drop-down box. If you choose "User Defined" the box and button below become active. "Browse" for the block that you would like to use for the leaders.  For more on how this setting affects leaders see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMLDRBLK System Variable".

Arrow Size

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DALIGN, DANGULAR, DCON DDIAM, DHORIZ, DLINEAR, DRADIUS, DROTATED, DVERT, QDIMENSION

Enter the arrow/tick/block size. This value assumes that you are in a full size drawing (scale factor = 1.0).  For more on how this setting affects dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMASZ System Variable".

Center Marks for Circles

Commands affected:  DIMSET, DDIAM, DRADIUS

Select the style and size for center marks. For more on how this setting affects dimensions see AutoCAD's help for the "DIMCEN System Variable".
