BASE CABINETS

This command inserts a variety of base cabinet sizes and configurations. It allows you to specify the width and height of the cabinets as well as the number of doors/drawers and their configuration. You may also specify that the cabinet is for a sink so no pulls/knobs are shown in the drawer(s) (if drawers are shown). The command creates the blocks as needed so a variety of non standard sizes and heights can be created.

Select the style of cabinetry you would like to use. The differences between kitchen and bath cabinetry are set in the Bathroom Cabs and Kitchen Cabs portions of the Elevation Cmds section of the APS-CONFIG command.

This is where you specify the number of drawers/doors wide the cabinet will be. You may specify a single drawer/door or double drawer/door. The "3 drawers 2 doors" option (available if the "Bath" style is selected above) is typically used in bathroom vanity conditions where you would like three drawers across (a small operable drawer on each side of a larger non-operable drawer for in front of a sink) above two doors.

If you don't want a drawer drawn check here.

If you plan to put a sink in this cabinet check here.

Enter the height for the cabinet. The height is measured from the floor line to the top of the countertop surface. To enter the height you may either select one of the preset height buttons or enter a value in the box.

Enter the width for the cabinet. To enter the width you may either select one of the preset width buttons or enter a value in the box. This image indicates what the preset buttons will look like with a single door/drawer cabinet. With a double door/drawer cabinet the 33" and wider buttons would be selectable and the 9", 12" and 15" buttons would not.

Note: Any positive width value can be entered above. The preset buttons merely show commonly used sizes.

Take a quick look at the preview window to make sure it shows the type of cabinet you want. When all of the values in the dialog are to your liking press . You will be prompted to:

Select insert point (on baseline) or <Enter> to pick on plan and project to baseline:

You may enter a point on the baseline (floor line) where you want to place the cabinet or you can press <Enter> or <Space> and select a point on the left side of the cabinet in plan and project that point to your baseline.

[Select insert point (on baseline)]

Select the point that is to be the bottom left corner of the cabinet.

--The cabinet is inserted--

[Press <Enter> to pick on plan and project to baseline]

The theory behind this is simple, you have a plan that you are using to project into the elevation so that everything lines up.

In this example we want to start with the base cabinet in plan and project it perpendicular to our baseline (the floor) in elevation as shown above.

Select point at left side of cabinet in plan:

Select the point. For this example we have used an endpoint object snap to help locate the point.

Select baseline (ground line) of elevation:

Select the line. Don't worry about selecting near where the cabinetry will go, you may select anywhere on the line.

--The cabinet is inserted--
