CENTERED OVERHEAD DOOR

Command to center an overhead door in a wall. You will be prompted for the point to center the door on then asked to select the lines/plines/mlines that make up the wall. Once this is done you are asked to select the door size you want. Finally the command will break the walls and allow you to select to which side the doors should open up to.

User configurable options:

Color, linetype, and lineweight of "dashed" outline of door above
Thickness for jambs
Max width for jambs
Draw door stops on jambs?
Minimum framing distance on each side of door
Draw door headers?
Draw door sills/thresholds?
Draw demolition Lines? Select layers that are treated as "existing walls"

Layers:

If you are using "No Layer Control" the door, jamb, sill, demo lines, and/or header lines (if any) will be inserted/drawn on whatever layer is current. See the Layer Control section of the APS Configuration Utility.

The default layer type for the door, jambs, and "door above" lines is "Doors", the default layer type for sill lines is "Finishes", the default layer type for demolition lines (if any) is "Demolition", and the default layer type for header lines (if any) is "Headers".
- If you are using "Direct Layer Assignment" the layer names are assigned to these layer types in the Layer assignments portion of the Layer Control section of the APS-CONFIG command.
- If you are using "Layer Schemes" the layer names are assigned to these layer types in the Assigning Layer Names to Layer Types portion of the SCHEMEDIT command.
The layer types for this command can be changed in the Assigning Layer Types to Commands portion of the Layer Control section of the APS-CONFIG command.

Known limitations:

This command will only insert a door in walls constructed of lines, polylines, and/or mlines.
Submit a limitation not listed.

SAMPLE C-OHEAD COMMAND SYNTAX:

Select base point on which to center overhead door or <Enter>/<Space> for MID2PT:

If the center of the wall can be found by using the midpoint of one of the wall lines, select the midpoint of that wall line now. The midpoint snap is added to your running object snaps if it is not already being used. If the base point location cannot be found using one of the standard object snaps press <Enter> or <Space> and use the MID2PT option which can locate the base point midway between any two points selected.

Select a point outside the wall lines to place the overhead door in:

Select the point.

Select a second point crossing all of the lines that make up the wall:

Select the second point of the crossing line that crosses the lines/plines/mlines that make up the wall. The following dialog will appear:

The maximum door size is displayed at the top of the dialog ( the max width shown above is 11'-3"). This distance reflects any minimum framing widths that have been set up. (See Door Commands in the Floor Plan Cmds section of the APS Configuration Utility) If the door size that you need to enter is larger than the "Maximum door size" shown at the top it is possible to override the minimum framing requirements and insert a door size that is equal to the full length of the wall.

Select the size button that is appropriate or type in the values desired. Note: the buttons show feet and inch values ie: 8 / 0 means 8'-0" not 80".

Select a point on side for Overhead Door:

Select a point on the side of the wall that you want the door to open.
