CENTERED PATIO DOOR

Command to center a patio door in a wall. You will be prompted for the point to center the door on then asked to select the lines/plines/mlines that make up the wall. Once this is done you are asked to select the door size you want. Finally the command will break the walls and allow you to select the door swing.

Select base point on which to center patio door or <Enter>/<Space> for MID2PT:

If the center of the wall can be found by using the midpoint of one of the wall lines, select the midpoint of that wall line now. The midpoint snap is added to your running object snaps if it is not already being used. If the base point location cannot be found using one of the standard object snaps press <Enter> or <Space> and use the MID2PT option which can locate the base point midway between any two points selected.

 

Select a point outside the wall lines to place the patio door in:

Select the point.

 

Select a second point crossing all of the lines that make up the wall:

Select the second point of the crossing line that crosses the lines/plines/mlines that make up the wall. The following dialog will appear:

The maximum door size is displayed at the top of the dialog ( the max width shown above is 6'-5"). This distance reflects any minimum framing widths that have been set up. (See Door Commands in the Floor Plan Cmds section of the APS Configuration Utility) If the door size that you need to enter is larger than the "Maximum door size" shown at the top it is possible to override the minimum framing requirements and insert a door size that is equal to the full length of the wall.

Enter the size for both the door and window.

-- The walls will be broken and the door swing choices will be drawn. Any jambs, sill lines, header lines, and/or demo lines will also be drawn  --

Select door handing/type desired:

You may choose the handing (swing direction) and between 45° & 90° swings. For this example we will select the 45° set of doors swinging to the top of the screen as shown which leaves:
