This command creates door and window elevation blocks. The elevation size and
type can be specified by either selecting doors and windows from within an
existing plan or by selecting them from a dialog.
With this command there are two ways to select the size and type of door
and window elevations. The first is to select the door or window in plan and
the second is to select it from a menu dialog.

 |
Select door/window from menu dialog |
The command initially assumes that you want to select your doors and
windows from a floor plan and that you have your plan already lined up with
your rough elevation as shown in the top image above. If you would just like to select your door or
window from the menu dialog (like immediately above) press <Enter> or <Space> and a dialog
will allow you to choose the type of door or window you would like. See Select
door/window from menu dialog below.
[Select door/window from plan]

There are a couple of requirements when using this method:
- You must have your floor plan lined up w/ your rough elevation similar
to the example above. The plan can be either above or below the elevation
but must match the setting in the Elevation
Cmds section of the
APS
Configuration Utility. The plan and elevation can be at any angle see Drawing
elevations around a plan in the Tips
& Tricks area.
- The door and window blocks in the plan are from one of the
APS-2008
door
and window commands and the plan is not a block or XREF (the door and
window blocks cannot be nested inside a block or XREF).
To help you understand fully how much time this command can save you we
will show you an example with several doors and windows.
Command:
Command: DW
Command: DWELEV

Select Window/Door in plan or <Enter> to specify:
Select the first door or window block in the plan that you would like to
elevate.

Select finish floor line or <Enter> to manually select insertion point:
To really speed things up you may select a line or pline that represents
the finished floor line and let the command find the insertion points of your
doors and windows for you. (The default header height for window is set in the Window Elevations
portion of the
Elevation Cmds section of the
APS
Configuration Utility, the bottom of the door is always set to the finish
floor height.) If you don't have a finished floor line you may also find the
insertion point yourself. Press <Enter> or <Space> and you will be
prompted for the insertion points for each of the doors and windows.
For this example we will select a line that represents the finished floor
height.

--the window elevation block is inserted--

Select Window/Door in plan:
This is when it really starts to get fast. Just start selecting doors and
windows.
--the door elevation block is inserted--

Select Window/Door in plan:
Select the next door or window.
--the window elevation block is inserted--

Select Window/Door in plan:
Select the next door or window. In this case it is a door that has some
style options to choose from so you would see the following dialog:

The difference between exterior and interior doors is simply whether or not
the trim is drawn below finished floor. Trim can be drawn below finished floor
so that the trim will be drawn down to the bottom of the siding. (The distance
that the trim goes below the finished floor is set in the Door Elevations
portion of the APS
Configuration Utility). Interior doors will not have trim below the finished
floor.
We are drawing exterior doors and would like the trim to go down to the
siding line so we will check "Exterior".
Next select the door style that you would like. For this example we will
select the door w/ the half-lite.

--the door elevation block is inserted--

Select Window/Door in plan:
Select the next door or window.
