HIPPED ROOF FRAMING SET

This command draws the trusses/rafters for a hipped roof in a roof framing plan. 

User configurable options: 

• Whether to draw the trusses/rafters with a double or single line
• If drawing double line trusses/rafters how far apart to make the lines
• Truss/rafter typical spacing
• Linetype, color, and lineweight for standard trusses/rafters
• Linetype, color, and lineweight for girder (carrier) trusses/rafters
• Whether to stop the trusses/rafters at the bearing wall or extend them all the way out to the roof overhang.
• If extending trusses/rafters:
• Whether to make extensions out to roof overhang a separate line w/ different properties
• Linetype, color, and lineweight of extensions if separate line than trusses/rafters

Layers:

• If you are using "No Layer Control" the framing will be drawn on whatever layer is current. See the Layer Control section of the APS Configuration Utility.

• The default layer type for the trusses this command draws is "Framing".
  • If you are using "Direct Layer Assignment" the layer name is assigned to this layer type in the Layer assignments portion of the Layer Control section of the APS-CONFIG command.
  • If you are using "Layer Schemes" the layer name is assigned to this layer type in the Assigning Layer Names to Layer Types portion of the SCHEMEDIT command.

  The layer type for this command can be changed in the Assigning Layer Types to Commands portion of the Layer Control section of the APS-CONFIG command.

SAMPLE HIPSET COMMAND SYNTAX:

Command:
Command: HIPSET

Select outside line of one of the side walls:

Select the wall line.

 

Select hip ridge line on side of first wall line selected:

Select the ridge line.

 

Select outside line of end wall of house:

Select the wall line.

 

Select other hip ridge line:

Select the ridge line.

 

Select outside line of other side wall:

Select the wall line.

Some tips...

Select the lines in the order shown above.

 

  

The pitches do not have to be the same and the command will adjust for small roof sections.

 

If you have a porch or something similar and you would like the trusses to extend out to the beams you may select the side of the column in place of the side wall as shown above. If there is no column you may select the beam instead. 

 

The truss/rafter (shown in yellow above) is drawn so that you have a standard truss/rafter to copy for the remaining area of the roof. The Copy Continuous command does an excellent job of copying trusses/rafters.
