Each of the commands draws a leader starting from the arrow point and then enters text. The arrowhead and the first leader line are one object when completed. (to eliminate loose arrowheads if the leader is ever erased) The difference between the commands is the type of arrowhead that each uses. The types of arrowheads are shown below:
![]() |
LDRTXT - Std Arrowhead LDRTXTA - Architectural Arrowhead LDRTXTB - Butterfly Arrowhead LDRTXTD - Dot Arrowhead LDRTXTS - Simple Arrowhead LDRTXTT - Tick Arrowhead |
Each of the arrowheads is scaled using the drawing's scale factor so that they will appear the same size on the plotted sheet no matter what the drawing's scale.

Command: LDRTXT, LDRTXTA, LDRTXTB, LDRTXTD, LDRTXTS, or LDRTXTTThis command may be configured to use either dynamic text (DText) or multi-line text (MText)
[Configured for DText]
Specify arrow point:
Select the point you would like the arrow of the leader to start.
Specify second point or [D]ist/[L]ength/direction dialog:
Select the second point for the "elbow" of the leader or press "D" or "L" for the Distance/Length & direction dialog.
--the arrowhead and first leader line are drawn--
Specify point for left edge of DText or <Enter>/<Space> to pick text to align to:
Ortho is turned on for this point. (Turn it off with <F8> or
to draw other angles.)
Select where you would like the left side of the text to start or press <Enter> or <Space> to select existing text in the drawing that you would like this new text to align with.
Tip: When drawing leaders to the left remember to select this point far enough to the left so that the text and a small second leader line will fit.

If you pressed <Enter> or <Space> select a point on the text that you would like this new text to align with. The "insert" object snap is used with this selection so the insertion points of the new and existing text will align.
[End - Press <Enter> or <Space>]
[Creating leader to the left]
Enter text:
Enter the text. You may create as many lines of text as you like.
When you are done entering text the text will be moved up so that the last line of text will be centered vertically on the second leader line. As long as the last line of text is shorter than the length of the second leader line the text will stay with the left edge where you selected it.
If the last line of text is longer than the length of the second leader line the text will be moved up and to the left to allow it to fit as shown above.
Press <Enter> twice to stop entering text.

[Configured for MText]
Specify arrow point:
Select the point you would like the arrow of the leader to start.
Specify second point or [D]ist/[L]ength/direction dialog:
Select the second point for the "elbow" of the leader or press "D" or "L" for the Distance/Length & direction dialog.
--the arrowhead and first leader line are drawn--
Specify point for left edge of MText or <Enter>/<Space> to pick text to align to:
Ortho is turned on for this point. (Turn it off with <F8> or
to draw other angles.)
Select where you would like the left side of the text to start or press <Enter> or <Space> to select existing text in the drawing that you would like this new text to align with.
Tip: When drawing leaders to the left make sure to select this point far enough to the left to allow enough room for both the text and a small second leader line. Unlike when using this command with DText, the text will not move to the left if the distance selected here is not wide enough. Your text will just get skinny.

The Multiline Text Editor dialog appears (minus the text, it will be blank)
Enter the text that you would like. The font and text size will be those that you set in the Text - Leaders section of the APS Configuration Utility by default. You may, of course, modify any text attribute that you would like.
For more on entering and modifying text with this editor see AutoCAD's help under "MTEXT Command / Multiline text editor", in R14 see "MTEXT / Editing" and in R13 see "Edit Mtext dialog box"
Note: The above dialog is from release 2002 AutoCAD. The Mtext editor varies by version so your editor may look different than the one above.
When done entering your text press
and the dialog will close.
