The PLOTPREP command may be configured to update a plot log file whenever it is run. The plot log file is a tab delimited ASCII file that may be imported in to your spreadsheet program. The file lists the following information for the drawing plotted:

• Job number
• Date
• Time
• Filename
• Sheet size
• Who/what machine sent the file
• Whether the plot is billable or not

All of the information except whether billable is collected automatically (see below for how the billable information is collected). 

User configurable options: 

• Whether or not to keep a plot log.
• Filename and path to the plot log file.

See the Plot Prep Config portion of the General section of the APS Configuration Utility.

Known limitations:

• The job number is extracted from the filename. If the job number is not the first X characters of the filename the job number will not be accurate. The number of characters used for the job number is defined in the Title blocks section of the APS Configuration Utility.
• The sheet size is found from using the drawing limits and dividing the X and Y values by the DIMSCALE of the drawing. If any of these values are not set correctly the sheet size will be inaccurate.
• The "Sent by" portion of the file uses the value for "Initials, name, or designation" set in the Title blocks section of the APS Configuration Utility. If this value has not been set correctly or if several people use the same machine without logging in separately this value may not be accurate.

Assuming that the configuration in the Plot Prep Config portion of the General section of the APS Configuration Utility has been set to do a plot log, when PLOTPREP is run prior to plotting you will see the following dialog:

If this plot should be billed to the client press the "Yes" button. If it should not be billed to the client then press "No".
