Back to SCHEMEDITBack to Editing a Layer Scheme
Assigning Layer Names to Layer TypesWhen using layer schemes the layer types are assigned a new layer name each time a layer scheme is loaded. In each layer scheme each of the layer types can be assigned to whatever layer is appropriate for that particular layer scheme. This can seem like a lot of work up front but not all of the layer types are typically used in each of the layer schemes. The layer types are divided into the four groups shown below. Every layer scheme uses the "Common" section of layer types but you will usually only need to define the layer types in one of the other three depending on what types of commands and layers are being used in your particular layer scheme.
These buttons each take you to where you assign this layer scheme's layers to each of the layer types. In this example we have been editing a floor plan layer scheme so we would typically only need to edit the common and plan sections of the layer types. Since the "Common Layers" section is used in every layer scheme we will demonstrate it here. When you select the "Common" button the following dialog will appear:
The layer types are listed on the left and the layer names that have been assigned to them on the right. We are editing the "1 New Floor Plan" layer scheme and it appears that the "Room name & numbers" layer type has been assigned to a layer for an enlarged floor plan so we will change it. Select the "Room names & numbers" layer type as shown above and the following dialog will appear:
The current layer assigned to the "Room names & numbers" layer type is displayed as the default. As you can see this layer is from the "1 Enlarged Exist/Demo Plan" and we want the layer from the "1 New Floor Plan" layer scheme. Select "1 New Floor Plan" from the "Layer Schemes" list top left above, this will display the layers from that layer scheme on the "Layers" list on the right as shown below:
Now we may select the appropriate layer for the "Room names & numbers" layer type as shown above and press OK. To help speed the selection process you may also double click on the layer desired and that will save the layer chosen for the layer type and close this dialog. When selecting a layer for any given layer type you have the option of selecting any layer from any of the layer schemes from this layer scheme file by selecting the layer scheme on the left and then the appropriate layer on the right (like above). You may also type in a layer name and it's linetype, color, and lineweight if the layer needed is not in one of the layer schemes in this file. Lastly, you may press the "Use whatever layer is current" button to assign the layer type to "CURRENT" which will basically turn "off" that layer type so any command using that layer type will insert/draw objects on whatever layer is current at the time. Once the layer information has been set for the layer type selected the following dialog returns with the updated information:
When you have set all of the layer types for this section press OK to return to the layer scheme editor. Back to Editing a Layer SchemeBack to SCHEMEDIT |
