SAMPLE STLSTUD COMMAND SYNTAX:

Command:
Command: STLSTUD

The following dialog will appear:

The button will take you to the main selection screen of the detailer command.

The button brings you to this web page for help during the command (without canceling)

If the default type, width, flange depth and the gauge highlighted are correct you may press the button or press either <Enter> or <Space> (which will press the button because it is highlighted) and the dialog will close. Otherwise, select whether you would like to draw a stud or a channel and then select a width from the first two columns of buttons or if the width you want is not on one of the buttons you may enter the width value in the box above. Next select the flange depth from the buttons under the "Flange" box. If the size you would like is not one of the values on the buttons you may enter another value in the box above. Finally select a gauge from the list in the box on the right and the dialog will close.

Select corner point of the stud or <Enter> to center:

Either select the corner point or press <Enter> or <Space> to center the stud/channel.

[Corner point option]

Selected the corner point (from above). The endpoint and intersection snaps are added to your running object snaps if not already being used.

Enter direction along long side of stud or [A]ng[L]e/[D]irection dialog:

Ortho is turned on for this point. (Turn it off with <F8> or to draw other angles.) Select a point, enter an angle, or press "A", "L", or "D" and use the AngLe/Direction dialog. Note: When drawing a line, the length of the line does not affect the length of the long side of the steel stud/channel.

Side for stud thickness:

Select the side for the stud/channel to be drawn. The white dashed line that appears is to show the direction that the stud/channel is going to be drawn. This is especially helpful in selecting a side when you specify an angle without other objects around for reference.

--the stud/channel is drawn--

[End - Corner point option]

[Centered option]

The following dialog appears:

Select the orientation that you would like. (Don't worry, your stud/channel won't look like the pictures shown. This is a generic dialog.)

Enter center point for stud:

Select the center point for the stud/channel. The midpoint snap is added to your running object snaps if not already being used.

Enter second point along centerline of stud or [A]ng[L]e/[D]irection dialog:

Ortho is turned on for this point. (Turn it off with <F8> or to draw other angles.) Select a point, enter an angle, or press "A", "L", or "D" and use the AngLe/Direction dialog. Note: When drawing a line, the length of the line does not affect the length of the stud/channel.

--the stud/channel is drawn--

[End - Centered option]
