SURVEYOR'S NOTATION

This command inserts text denoting the direction (in surveyor's units) and length (in decimal feet) of a line. The text is rotated to align with the line selected and placed offset from the line near it's midpoint.

User configurable options: 

• The size, style, width factor, and character string to produce the degree symbol ( ° ) for the style selected are all set in the settings for "Note and Leader Text" in the Text and Leader section of the APS Configuration Utility.

Layers:

• If you are using "No Layer Control" the text will be inserted on whatever layer is current. See the Layer Control section of the APS Configuration Utility.

• The default layer type for the text is "Notes & Leaders".
  • If you are using "Direct Layer Assignment" the layer name is assigned to this layer type in the Layer assignments portion of the Layer Control section of the APS-CONFIG command.
  • If you are using "Layer Schemes" the layer name is assigned to this layer type in the Assigning Layer Names to Layer Types portion of the SCHEMEDIT command.

  The layer type for this command can be changed in the Assigning Layer Types to Commands portion of the Layer Control section of the APS-CONFIG command.  

Known limitations:

• This command assumes that north is straight up in the drawing so that if the line to be noted has been rotated so north is other than straight up this command will give inaccurate angle values.

• Submit a limitation not listed.

Select the line or pline to note. Where the line is selected does not affect where the note will be placed so you may select it anywhere.
