Command:
Command: WDFLNG

The following dialog will appear:

The button will take you to the main selection screen of the detailer command.

The button brings you to this web page for help during the command (without canceling)

If the default beam type and sizes indicated are correct you may press the button or press either <Enter> or <Space> (which will press the button because it is highlighted) and the dialog will close.

If the type and/or sizes shown are not what you would like...

Select the type from the choices on the left.

Select a beam size from the first column.

When a size is selected the weight per foot values are listed on the right. Select one of these weights and the dialog will close.

Select corner point of the wide flange or <Enter> to center:

Either select the corner point or press <Enter> or <Space> to center the beam.

[Corner point option]

Selected the corner point (from above). The endpoint and intersection snaps are added to your running object snaps if not already being used.

Enter direction along long side of wide flange or [A]ng[L]e/[D]irection dialog:

Ortho is turned on for this point. (Turn it off with <F8> or to draw other angles.) Select a point, enter an angle, or press "A", "L", or "D" and use the AngLe/Direction dialog. Note: When drawing a line, the length of the line does not affect the size of the beam.

Side for wide flange thickness:

Select the side for the beam to be drawn. The white dashed line that appears is to show the direction that the beam is going to be drawn. This is especially helpful in selecting a side when you specify an angle without other objects around for reference.

--the beam is drawn--

[End - Corner point option]

[Centered option]

The following dialog appears:

Select the orientation that you would like. (Don't worry, your beam won't look like the pictures shown. This is a generic dialog.)

Enter center point for wide flange:

Select the center point for the beam. The midpoint snap is added to your running object snaps if not already being used.

Enter second point along centerline of beam or [A]ng[L]e/[D]irection dialog:

Ortho is turned on for this point. (Turn it off with <F8> or to draw other angles.) Select a point, enter an angle, or press "A", "L", or "D" and use the AngLe/Direction dialog. Note: When drawing a line, the length of the line does not affect the size of the beam.

--the beam is drawn--

[End - Centered option]
