Customizing a Predefined Hatch Background Drawing

To update the background for hatch choices, first open the appropriate file:

The background file for the DETLHATCH command is "detlhat.dwg".

The background file for the ELEVHATCH command is "elevhat.dwg".

The background file for the PLANHATCH command is "planhat.dwg".

All of these files are located in the support folder under the APS program file folder.

The drawing will look something like this:

There is a box drawn inside each of the cells. It is used as a boundary for the hatch patterns. If you don't see the grid lines and boxes turn all the layers on. One of the boxes is shown above highlighted yellow. This boundary also allows for a space between hatch patterns. For an example lets assume that we are adding a hatch to the highlighted cell shown above.

We will first copy one of the adjacent hatch titles to our cell and change the text so that it shows the new hatch's name. (This step is optional. If you don't want a title for the hatch pattern you don't have to have one.)

Next hatch the cell with the new hatch pattern. If you like you may also change the color to match the others (they are color 254)

Once you have made all of your changes to the hatches, you are ready to create a new slide file. See Making slides for the APS system.
