OverviewSingle layer assignment assumes that there is only one layer that each object should always go on. A door will always go on the specified door layer, text always on the specified text layer and so on. Each command and block in the APS-2008 system is assigned to a layer type. In the Single Layer Assignment layer control method each of these layer types is then assigned a single layer name. When a command or block draws/inserts an object it uses the layer name assigned to it's layer type. Back to top
How Single Layer Assignment worksEach APS-2008 command is assigned to a layer type, each layer type is assigned a layer name. By using layer types you don't have to enter the layer information again and again for the commands that should use the same layer. You enter the layer information once in a layer type and then assign the commands to the appropriate layer type.
That's it. It's that simple. Looking at the diagram above we can graphically see how this works. When the NOTESC command is used, it will create text on the "A-TEXT-01" layer because NOTESC is assigned to the "NOTES" layer type which is assigned the "A-TEXT-01" layer name. Since the layer information has already been entered for the "NOTES" layer type it is not necessary to enter it again for the "LEADR" command, just assign the "LEADR" command to the "NOTES" layer type and it has all the information it needs. Layer types are assigned to commands in the Assign Layer Types to Commands portion of the Layer Control section of the APS-CONFIG command or in the configuration section for the specific command. Layer names are assigned to layer types using the Layer Assignments buttons in the Layer Control section of the APS-CONFIG command. Back to top |
